Trearddur open up 5 point lead

Trearddur Bay win top of the table clash.

Trearddur Bay United made a huge title statement today as they beat main rivals and 2011 League Champions, Bro Goronwy by 5 goals to 2. After an even first half where the hosts Sean Pritchard had scored twice inside five minutes to cancel out earlier strikes from the Bay's Anthony Parry and Martin McClymont, the visitors took control in the second period when McClymont added to his tally with Ryan Jones and Matt Doutch their other marksmen. The win meant that Trearddur Bay have opened up a five point lead at the top following their eigth straight league win to maintain their 100& unbeaten start. Fellow Islanders Llannerch-y-medd remain second but left it late to salvage a point at Holyhead Town. The hosts were two up inside 10 minutes thanks to Luke Miles and a Shane Boylan penalty. Dylan Owen pulled on back for Llan from another spot kick shortly before the break. Within a minute of the restart, the hosts restored their two goal advantage when Rob Mangan made it 3-1. With time running out, Iwan Williams gave Llan hope with their second on 72 minutes and then Tristram Lee struck in injury time for a share of the spoils to leave a 3-3 scoreline. Beaumaris Town scored four second half goals without reply to see off Holyhead Hotspur 4-0 at Beach Road with Andy Clarke and Steven Jones both bagging two apiece and Bangor University are off the mark with a 2-0 home win to leapfrog Llanystumdwy in the table. Samuel Gibson and Mike Cronshaw both netted for the Students.
