Plans for the setting up of another women's football team in North Wales are underway.
Llanystumdwy has long been home to a men's football club which competes in the Gwynedd League, but now a ladies team is set to be introduced there too.
The main driving force behind the project is Maria Lloyd, who hopes to get a team entered into the North Wales Women's League next season, although a lot of work still needs to be done for that to become a reality.
"We're very excited to be starting a women's team at Llanystumdwy," said Maria. "At the moment we're recruiting players that would like to sign. The plan is to start training in January ready for next season.
"We will be looking for sponsors to help us get the equipment we need. We're also looking into accessing grants to help as well. We will be needing goals, balls, kit and training equipment etc. The football club hold an annual banger racing event which we will be a part of, and we will also be looking for fresh ideas for other events.
"Training would begin at the start of the new year with plenty of friendlies and possibly taking part in tournaments until the new season begins next year."
Llanystumdwy could apply to enter the North Wales Women's League next season, or there is the option to join the North Wales Ladies Recreational League, which offers a more relaxed and gradual approach in becoming established as a team.
Maria added: "If you play football yourself or know of anyone who would be interested in playing football for the team, please contact CPD Llanystumdwy through their Facebook page or contact myself, Maria Lloyd, via Facebook. This is just a temporary form of contact so we have an idea of how many would be interested.
"We're also hoping to get some friendly games to prepare us for the new season, and also give the players the opportunity to get to know each other and work as a team before the new season begins."
At present, people can contact CPD Llanystumdwy via their page on Facebook, where Maria Lloyd can also be contacted.
