Llanllyfni & Trearddur Bay through in the FAW Trophy

Both CPD Llanllyfni and Trearddur Bay United FC are through to the First Round proper of this season's FAW TRophy after victories yesterday afternoon. Llanllyfni overcame fellow Gwynedd League side CPD Bethel with a resounding 5-1 win thanks to an Arron Hughes hat-trick. Meanwhile, a Barry Haigh strike on the hour mark was enough to take their tie into extra time against hosts Meliden who had opened the scoring in the 35th minute. The Bay held their nerve to win 3-1 in the penalty shoot out. Both sides join Beaumaris, Llanystumdwy, Bro Goronwy and Penrhyndeudraeth in the hat with the draw expected to be made sometime during the coming week.
