Anglesey clubs dominate Round 1 matches

There were wins for all Anglesey clubs against their Caernarfonshire counterparts in today's First Round clashes in the Cwpan Gwynedd Meditel Cup.

Beaumaris Town were by far the top scorers demolishing bottom club Bontnewydd with an 8-2 thrashing. Leading the way for Beaumaris with a hat-trick was Steven Jones with Andy Clarke and Dean Redmond both bagging doubles each. Simon and Sion Jones replied for Bont with second half goals.

Also through are Bro Goronwy who came from two goals down to beat in form Bethel and win 3-2. Jonathan Sadler had given Bethel an early two goal lead with strikes after 9 & 10 minutes. Bro were awarded a penalty that captain Sean Pritchard duly converted and Alex Jones had the home side level before half time with his side's second goal after 33 minutes. It was left to Sam Carter to score the decider midway through the second period.

League leaders Trearddur Bay United edged out hosts Waunfawr with a 3-2 victory. An Adam Jones spot kick had given Waun the lead shortly after the half hour mark but the Bay struck back with two goals in the closing moments of the first half through Anthony Parry and Ryan Jones. A Matt Doutch own goal put the tie back in the balance before Ryan Booth settled the outcome with a 75th minute penalty.
