Futsal Coach Education Calendar 2017-2018 announced

Hi all,

I am pleased to announce we have launched our 2017 / 2018 Futsal Coach Education Calendar.

This will offer all coaches in Wales an unique opportunity to up skill their knowledge on the fastest growing indoor sport in the world.

Futsal provides a fun alternative to the 11 a side game and when used properly provides players with a great development tool to enhance their technical and physical abilities in fun and free environments, allowing the players to express themselves when on the ball.

Our award is a 3 hour practical coaching course following on from your 5 Online Modules, providing an introduction to the key concepts of Futsal. Content will include key techniques, skills and tactics, example coaching practices, an understanding of the Laws of the Game and how Futsal should be played.

I would be most grateful if you could send this information out to your clubs, fellow leagues and anyone you may feel would benefit or enjoy the award.

The direct link to to book on the award is > https://www.fawcourses.com/category/futsal

The Award is priced at £55, however if candidates have completed the 5 Level 1 online modules prior to either a Football Leaders Award, Goalkeepers Award or Disability Award the cost would only be £20.

What is Futsal?
•First played in Uruguay in 1932
•Played on a hard indoor court, no walls or barriers used

•A smaller ball than a regular-sized football is used
•A standard match consists of two period of 20 minutes
•Hugely popular in Brazil, Spain, Italy and Iran

Why Futsal?
◾Players learn to cope in tight spaces
◾It improves spatial awareness
◾It improves decision making
◾Develops a player's ability to both defend and attack
◾Gives players less time on the ball
◾Players touch the ball up to five times more in small-sided games than in 11-a-side football
◾Goalkeepers are involved in the action two to four times more than in 11-a-side football
◾The ball is out of play 8-10% of the time in a small-sided game, compared to 34% in 11-a-side

World Cup winner Pele: "Futsal was important in helping to develop my ball control, quick thinking, passing… also for dribbling, balance, concentration…Futsal was very, very important, no doubt.”

World Player of the Year Lionel Messi: "In Argentina, when I was a young boy, I used to play a lot of Futsal on the street and with Newell's Old Boys. It was a really fun game that's helped me a great deal.

"Real Madrid winger Cristiano Ronaldo: "In Portugal, all we played growing up was Futsal. The smaller court helped my footwork skills, the nature of the game made me feel so free when I played. If it wasn't for Futsal, I would definitely not be the player I am today."

Milan and Brazil forward Robinho: "I played Futsal for many years and it helped me to become the player I am today. There you don't have time to think, you are always tightly marked and you develop a sense for performing in small spaces.”
