Bro Goronwy FC score twice in the closing ten minutes to beat fellow Gwynedd League side Waunfawr

2-0 in this afternoon's NWCFA Junior Cup Final played at Holyhead.

Bro Goronwy FC fully deserved their victory to secure the NWCFA Junior Cup for the second time in their history (their last coming 30 years ago in the 1986/87 season) in a poor final spoilt by the wind with two goals in the closing ten minutes against their Gwynedd League rivals Waunfawr at Holyhead Hotspur FC Stadium to exact revenge for their Cwpan Gwynedd Final defeat against their opponents three weeks ago.

With the Islanders looking the stronger on the day, neither side was able to create a clear cut opening and extra time was looming until the match was held up in the 78th minute for 20 minutes when Waunfawr's right back, Chris Harding took an accidental blow to the side of his head as he fell awkwardly to the surface under the challenge and was unconscious for a brief moment. This setback was obvious as Waun were still cold when they immediately conceded a penalty duly converted by Graham Jones. The match ended as a contest when Bro striker Andy Williams turned his marker from fifteen yards out and gave Waun keeper Bracegirdle no chance with his left foot drive.
