Bontnewydd retain Gwynedd Safeflue Shield after narrowly beating 2015 winners Llanystumdwy

For the third consecutive domestic cup final this season, a single solitary goal was enough to clinch this season's Gwynedd Safeflue Shield Final.

Bontnewydd (pictured) took the honours in a tight final against Llanystumdwy thanks to a Morgan Roberts left foot effort just inside the box, midway through the first half, in front of a crowd of nearly 300 at Maes Dulyn, Penygroes.

In a game of very few chances where both sides enjoyed plenty of possession, Llanystumdwy came close to levelling the match just before the break when Sion Parry's effort came back off the post and despite the Llyn side having the better of the second half in terms of pressure, Bont's defence held firm and inevitably gaps then began to appear as the match entered it's final stages. Bont's best effort came from a corner with Roberts having his goal bound headed effort in the final five minutes brilliantly saved by Hughes in the Stumdwy goal.
